Speech recognition software

As I am progressing nicely I am becoming more reliant on Dragon NaturallySpeaking to perform many computer tasks by voice alone. I am now a dab hand at opening my email client, reading and sending emails and browsing the Internet without using keyboard or mouse. It’s certainly challenging but a great distraction from the main event!

I had been using ‘iffy’ copies of the program in the past, though not to its full potential, when I came across a special offer for version 13 Professional which normally retails for about £550 down to £100 for people with qualifying disabilities which I invested in. The beauty of the professional version is that it can be used on up to 7 computers - pretty future proofing I’d say! It is also remarkably accurate and way way better than any previous version.

The offer was subject to timescale and stock as well and I was going to mention it at the next branch meeting of the MS Society in case anyone might be interested. First of all I got in touch with the company to ask if the offer still stood and availability et cetera, to which they replied that it was but they only had 225 left in stock. Now considering my local branch has perhaps 18 members…

Anyway, I thought I would mention it on this forum and you can PM me if you want any further details.

I have nothing whatsoever to do with the company, just a very impressed customer!

Regards,
Stephen

Sounds good Stephen, thanks. It’s always helpful to hear about programs like this which help the disabled. I’m a techno dinosaur and haven’t a clue about any of the modern programs or devices. My daughter has only just convinced me to invest in a smart phone and I’m still trying to find my way around that. I’m sure this will be of use to some of us, in fact I’ll mention it to my dad who has MND, he might appreciate knowing about it.
