Wow!!! Twins. My first recollection of identical twins is Tez and Dez (I think it was Terrence and Desmond) who lived across the road in Fazakerley. Since then I’ve known lots of twins through teaching. They have all been brilliant pupils.

All the best, Steve x

Thank you for your messages, I knew a few weeks ago that Rochelle was expecting, but to have twins is amazing, these will be our first grandchildren. I thought she looked big for 12 weeks we’d not told anyone but i think some people were starting to suspect. When we went for the scan yesterday, i knew immediately, straight away we saw two little heads…Im hoping she will be okay there are more risks with identical twins because they share the same placenta, but she will be looked after more and will be scanned more often. They will be beautiful because my son in law is black, i cant wait to see them …but i sooo wish i could walk, i really want to be a good Grandma, Rochelle and I are very close and i really want to be there for her.

Lovely news Michelle, will you find out the sex? I think it’s 50/50 of parents want to know before birth. I’m sure you will be invaluable in your support of the parents and your Grandchildren, if nothing else you will be able to read to them, teach nursery rhymes, sing songs etc etc. Time to talk and listen to children is so important when parents have busy lives.

Michelle you don’t have to walk to be a good grandmother! Sitting and talking to them, reading to them, cuddling them, loving them. That’s what they need.

When my grandson was about 5 he asked me what my walking stick was… so I told him it was a walking stick. Then I noticed he kept looking at. Took me a while but finally realised he was waiting for it to start walking.

He’s now 10 and quite a good wheelchair pusher! And he’s had a ride on my mobility scooter. Loved it and he was really good at it.

You’ll be there for your daughter and your grandchildren. Don’t worry.

Michelle, please don’t think you will not be a good grandma cos you don’t walk, my grandchildren never seen it as any problem.

In fact they thought it was better being able to sit on my lap on my power chair and have a ride.

All 4 of them are very good readers, love books of all sorts, and I like to think I helped with that, each of them would love nothing more than a story and a cudddle with Nanny.

You have all that the look forward to, and I just know you will love it.

Thank you so much everyone your lovely messages made me cry. I was so happy when she first told me, but sometimes i find i doubt myself… i suddenly saw loads of grandmas pushing prams and felt so sad, at least like you said i can cuddle them and read to them and my walking isn’t bad in my own home…Its funny but it was finding out that Rochelle was expecting that prompted me to ask for a second opinion, my CBT counsellor is convinced that it is physical she says i’m not even borderline depressed or anxious, Its awful watching my life change so drastically but having no real answers.

i was just watching the info on world ms day it seems that so many people have been left in the dark . and had to wait too long to find out. I hope its okay me going on this forum instead of "undiagnosed ", i think because Im in a wheelchair there is more support and understanding here.

Fabulous news Michelle. You must be so excited, I would be. As the others have said, whether you can walk or not isn’t important. My daughter was in a different country to her grandparents but thanks to technology she was able to sit and talk to them as often as she liked, play games with them when she was a bit older and now that they’re also in the UK, even though she’s 17 she has a very close bond with them and doesn’t think she lost contact with them at all.

If they could keep a bond despite the distance, you have no worries. I understand your concerns but put them aside. I’m so happy for you.

Hi Michelle,

Don’t you dare go anywhere. I love hearing your stories and you are going to be a brilliant grandma.

My grand kids love It when I play on the iPad and read stories and we do crafts.

We have the youngest tomorrow as mum and dad are moving into their new house. It’s going to be fun as I pulled a muscle in my back today putting on my trousers this morning. Very painful.

He has just started to crawl so grandad is going to have to chase after him not that I can do much chasing even without the sore back.

Thanks Pat, that really means a lot i’m so happy for Rochelle but when i’m on my own I keep crying i feel so useless some days…i’m not the same person i was and i don’t know who i am anymore, that makes me sound depressed i’m not its just that i feel so exhausted and don’t seem to have the energy to do much even making tea is such an ordeal i don’t even feel that i have the same circle of friends yes they are still there but i’m too different…its weird you know we all need to feel we belong whenever i see another wheelchair user out and about i try to make eye contact i feel like i’m in another club

Thanks everyone for your kind words I feel that i love these little ones already…I’d do anything to walk again I really would i feel like saying " iv’e done it now lived this life humbled myself for two years in the chair, can i have my old life back now?"

Thanks for listening Michele x

Thanks Cath

Its lovely to read your encouraging message, i remember struggling when i had mine, my mum lived quite away from me and I was 21 when i had my first and then Rochelle was born 16 months later, in fact our first 4 were all very close I don’t know how i did it.

But I’m determined to be there for her whatever it takes.

wow congratulations Michelle, wonderful news, being a grandma is just the best thing EVER, when i first became a grandma for first time, i was laid up in bed,and you know what,my gorgeous little new grandaughter gave me the strength to get out of my bed, and get going again

shes 2 and a half now and we have such a lovely bond, when my daughter brings her in the car, as soon as she turns into my street, she starts getting excited saying Babba, babba (grandma) as she knows shes coming to see me, bless her,and as soon as she comes through the door she runs up to me and cuddles me,needless to say it makes my day, shes my absoloute world she really is,

your twins will be beautiful, mixed race babies always are. always extra cute , enjoy this very special time in your life, and i know you will be such a good grandma, and dont think for a minute you are leaving us on here, cos you aint going nowhere,we wont let you.

((((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))
