Dizzy spells

Hello, it’s been some months since I last posted or commented, but I’m looking for advice. I think I have a new symptom.

I was diagnosed PPMS 14 years ago, and deterioration has been steady. I can weight bear to transfer, but otherwise use a wheelchair full time. I’ve lost my fine motor skills, so can’t live independently. But I’m lucky I feel well and am not in pain.

I’m having occasional dizzy spells, sometimes random, when I’m sitting doing nothing, but mostly when I get into bed and lie down, sometimes when I’m getting up, when I sit up. I’ve been on Amlodipine for high blood pressure for about 12 months.

I’ve looked online and it mentions neurological causes such as Parkinson’s Disease. So could it be the MS?

Hi Flowerpot

I have had dizzy spells sometimes random and some when changing position in bed and both my GP and Neuro agreed this was BPPV which apparently is a type of vertigo and associated with MS.

Luckily it appears to pass on as quickly as it comes, but I am led to believe there are meds that can help if it is severe.

Hope this helps and you feel better soon.

Thanks that’s reassuring.

Nothing really to post but M x

I had those when I could still clump along with a stick in 2012. The GP said it was labyrinthitis and gave me ani-biotics. It didn’t work instantly but went away in its own good time. The best way to respond was to just take a look around and orientate myself. I put it down as a guest symptom.

Best wishes.
