Applying for blue badge advice

Hi

i was diagnosed with PPMS in October and still coming to terms with it. Looking for advice on applying for a blue badge.

thank you

Hi Sandy

You can apply online for your blue badge. You apply to your local council, I can’t give you much more information as each council has their own requirements. If you have mobility or fatigue problems you should be eligible. It’s worth applying. Good luck.

Thank you.
Yes I have what I call a lazy left leg and drop foot which becomes worse when I walk for longer periods. I also am starting to notice the fatigue. I will apply and see what happens as think it will be beneficial to have and use when I need to.

Have you looked into getting a FES to help with drop foot. Worth asking your GP to refer you for an assessment.

My physio has mentioned this And if I remember correctly if it got worse I could try this. I go back to the physio for another appointment end of the month so may mention this again. Thank you

Hi Sandy, welcome to our exclusive club of MS’rs.

A Blue Badge application on line is the quickest method. Full, easy instructions are sent to you. Complete their online form, to send scanned copies of some original docs like Birth certificate, Driving Licence GPs/Hosp specialist. Confirmation of mobility or mental health is serious enough to warrant a blue badge, but not so serious that you’re stopped from driving.

Post to local council, the badge in your name is posted to you with the rule book.

Good luck

I wish you luck in your application I gave up trying even though I have PIP mobility the online form was a complete and utter pain in the article then when coming to upload the photo it refused to accept it even though the photo was within the correct criteria. I then rang the council for help and the lady! demanded to know if I was stupid, so I replied no but your plucking rude and put the phone down. So no blue badge for me.

On dear Anon, how frustrating! For the insensitive dimwit at your Counsil, think I’d say “I have brain damage from an incurable disease that just deteriorates. What’s your excuse for your lack of comprehension?” Haha

You’ve got to exaggerate your symptoms to them (white lies) to earn one. I know of people out there who can walk better than me, managed to obtain expensive mobility cars and one of them can run a short distance.
