Hello all, I hope you are as well as you can be. I am considering buying a bigger scooter and hoped that anyone can give me advice on types and pro’s and con’s of different makes. Would be very grateful for your advice please.

To be honest you need to try before you buy. I got myself a Royale (heartway) second hand it wasnt cheap even then as i felt i needed to upgrade my scooter.
It was delivered to me and my hubby checked it all over for me.
I took it out for my first drive and i HATED IT. Ugh it was top of the range but i didnt like anything about it. As my hubby was also sick at the time, he took it over from me, and I still have my old faithful 2 years down the line i know its an Invacare and we have been together about six years now. It is so comfy, does 4 to 8mph
I certainly would try one first though, as they are all different to ride. Mine has lights, indicators, good suspension as i take it over to our park, and stops on a sixpence. Dont forget if you upgrade to 8mph you should register it with the DVLA although to be honest not a lot of people do. Also to drive on path you legally should only do 4mph which is like walking a snails pace lol after using an 8mph one.
The heartway royale scared me as even though it did 8mph you felt it was going a lot faster, we had it registered and it has its own number plates and hubby drove it on the road.
Have fun but really try before you buy. Well thats my opinion to be honest having wasted a lot of money myself.
Yes try few till you get one you like after that you could probably buy it cheaper on line some will deliver and install it for you there is some assembly to be done first ones I would look at is tga well built with a good reputation.
Definitely try before you buy. I’d say go to the Mobility roadshow but that has just folded! Naidex is a good, free show with plenty of exhibitors. Think first WHAT you want it for.
is it for small trips to shops?
does it need to go on the road? does it need to fold and go in a car? (weight then becomes an issue) where will you store it?
you say you both got scooters so I’m thinking you have a flat level front door?
Research is the key here! my OH tried the ATTO at MS Life and was impressed.
Hi Janet, I wanted a scooter earlier this year and got bogged down by the huge range available. In the end I went to the nearest shop and looked at what they had available. I chose a second hand model. The shop had sold it to the first owner and had maintained it. I know I could have found the same model cheaper elsewhere but I cannot put a price on peace of mind. Thank you all for your comments, I have taken on board what you have said and will have a good look around before I buy one. I would like one that goes further than 5 miles with more suspension and comfortable so I can go for long walks with my hubby. I appreciate your responses, thank you. Janet x

Whatever you do, don’t buy a Careco Daytona. I bought mine thirteen months ago and two weeks ago it started to show problems. When I contacted careco they informed me that the 12 month warranty had expired, so I had to pay someone to repair it. If anyone has already bought one I will be pleased to let them know of the five serious faults I found.
I’ve had my Shoprider Cordoba for 13 years and never had a moments trouble with it. Still manages over 25 miles on a full charge and has never even been serviced. I use it every day, it’s comfortable and goes easily over all kinds of terrain. Would wholeheartedly recommend it.
