isoniazid for MS tremor

My mum has MS (RR) but we think has now moved onto Secondary. She was diagnosed over 20 years ago and luckily has never really had bad symptoms but this last year she has just gone really bad. Tremors are terrible constant in her head/neck and when she tries to use her hands for eating, drinking etc… can barely walk without falling. Specialist put her on Gabapentin when the tremors began when they were severe but as they got worse she wS advised to take the full dose (2700mg) a day. This turned her into a zombie and didn’t really stop or reduce the tremors so after a year we reduced the dose and now she is off that and feeling more alert but still with severe tremors. Specialist now wants to try her on isoniazid which is a strong Antibiotic used originally to combat TB. Has.anyone had any experience with this? We are so worried for mum and feel so helpless. Thanks Chris

Hi Chris

Sorry I can’t offer any help with the medication your Mum has been offered, but I was put on propanalol twice daily for mine. They are not a miracle cure but they have taken the edge off mine, making it more manageable.

If her new medication does not help maybe you could mention this to try.

Hope this helps.
