GUYS HELP

ive been suffering from erection problems, there are times(for exmaple) in the mornings when i wake up and everything seems “ok” but when it comes to intimacy with the ladies, it doesnt work, tried viagra 50mg, then 100mg and also cialis, all to no effect, GP and urologist just prescribed me the medication but no further info, any help and similar experiences??? thanks

Hi anon. I’m female so can’t relate to your actual problem and I hope you don’t mind me replying. However, the fact that you are still experiencing erections in the morning on awaking, shows that physically, everything is in good working order. Admittedly this is more likely a reaction to the need to empty the bladder. A reflex action rather than a conscious one. With the ladies, could it be that you are concerned about performance, even subconsciously? The mind does strange things and the problems might be psychological? Sometimes we’re not even aware of this.

There are two different kinds of erections: the usual kind that results from feeling turned on, and the kind that occurs during REM or dream sleep.

When a man is in REM sleep, he frequently has an erection when he’s dreaming When he wakes up, early in the morning, he is often waking from REM sleep, so he may wake up with a REM-related erection. REM erections are triggered by a different part of the brain than erections that result from sexual arousal. This means that psychologically, these two different types of erection have little, if anything, in common.

The point is that erotic erections come (sorry) via a different neural pathway than nocturnal erections. I have nocturnal erections but no erotic ones. I’m afraid I don’t know what the solution is, but then I’m past the age of caring.

Best wishes,

Anthony

Thanks Anthony. That’s what I was trying to say! I can’t believe anyone is ever too old to care though…

thanks for the replies, I’m 25 and its been happening for a few years now, when I was in a relationship I was open about it and she totally understood but now that I’m single its much more stressful

Have you seen a urology nurse? I know strictly speaking it’s not a urology ‘thing’ but try talking to your MS nurse and see whether they can refer you to someone who can help.

There are lots of solutions, from a type of injection, to drops that you drip into the ‘affected area’. And then there’s the pump. So you essentially ‘pump’ up the penis.

It’s a hard (I’m sorry too) to be a young man who wants a full life including sex. And I’m sure there are solutions if you’re prepared to try all the different options.

I’ve given up the thought of sex too, I’ve suggested that it would be like Mr Sssue shagging a blow up doll, once he’d arranged my legs etc, got himself ‘interested’ and given that I have no feeling downstairs it really is a bit point(!)less.

But then I’m 51 and Mr S is over 60. We’re not bothered. And we have our memories!!

Sue (again, sorry, another woman who has no boundaries answering you)

Hi there Anonymous,

I had the same problem for quite some time, so I know just how you feel.

Now, could the problem be a side-effect of one of your meds? I came off one of mine last year and couldn’t believe the difference it made. The drug in question was a Beta Blocker, not an MS med (to my knowledge), but they are prescribed for a number of other conditions. I suspect many meds could have the same side-effect, especially when combined with others, so why not have a chat with your GP or neuro about changing any of the pills ‘n’ potions they’ve got you on; it’s surely worth a try.

Hope you find a solution.

Ben

Thanks Ben but I actually stopped taking all medication quite some time ago. I don’t like taking tablets. I will get down to my GP and see the other available options
