foot drop

I have a foot drop some five days ago. I have a spinal cord stenosis and disc compression at l4 l5 .I underwent a disktomy 20 years ago but the pain returned mow. One day after my foot drop I underwent lumbar fixation .that was 4 days ago. The foot drop did not heal until now. Any one can help and share experience as I am horrified please. Thamk you all.

Do you have MS? Foot drop was my first symptom. It is really common in MS. Bouds x

No my dear I was having spinal cord stenosis and compression. Immediately sfter I felt the drop I underwent lumbar fixation the next day. It was now 6 days after the operation but it didn’t cured. Please give me your advice and experience. Thank you.

I thought this was a MS forum, but anyway, I developed foot drop 3 years after dx.

Hello ramomani, It sounds like you’re going through a difficult time. The best advice I can give is that you speak to your GP and let them know what’s going on. Something is happening with your nervous system, by the sounds of it. Take care and good luck.

ramomani Sorry to hear this. ‘Horrifying’ is definitely the word for it. I’ve had foot drop several times now. MS Nurse told me it was ‘very unusual’ for MS, which precipitated a loss of confidence in MS nurse care in my area and i haven’t seen them now in several years. Foot drop with me comes and goes and i try not to worry too much. Physio gave me a ‘foot up’ which is really useful for slapping around with while you wait for some recovery. Definitely not the sexiest look (!) but it’s been a real positive for me. They also gave me some different coloured exercise strips for when movement begins to come back. Also very useful. My GP told me recovery is a good sign (I’d already worked that out!)and fast recovery even better. Were you told your spinal compression was due to MS or where you (like me) referred by Neuro to Rheumatology?

Hi, that MS nurse wasn’t very well informed on one of the most common symptoms of MS! Boudsx

I have had foot drop for over 10 years. A SAFO (google it) has helped mine tremendously.
