I just got my daily Multiple Sclerosis Research email and there’s an item in it about a trial for a drug for PPMSers that I thought some of you might be interested in? They are still recruiting patients for it. I don’t know anything else about it, but maybe it would be worth asking your neuro about? This is what the email said about the trial: Inclusion Criteria (i.e. what you need to be or have in order to be eligible): 1. Adult patients, 18-55 years of age 2. Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis (according to revised McDonald criteria) 3. Expanded Disability Status Scale (EDSS) 3 to 6.5 points 4. Disease duration from onset of MS symptoms < 15 years if EDSS > 5.0, < 10 years if EDSS >/= 5.0 5. Sexually active male and female patients of reproductive potential must use two methods of contraception throughout the study treatment phase and for 48 weeks after the last dose Exclusion Criteria (i.e. what you mustn’t have to still be eligible): 1. History of relapsing remitting multiple sclerosis, secondary progressive, or progressive relapsing multiple sclerosis at screening 2. Contraindications for Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) 3. Known presence of other neurologic disorders 4. Known active infection or history of or presence of recurrent or chronic infection 5. History of cancer, including solid tumors and hematological malignancies (except for basal cell, in situ squamous cell carcinomas of the skin and in situ carcinoma of the cervix that have been excised and resolved) 6. Previous treatment with B-cell targeted therapies (e.g. rituximab, ocrelizumab, atacicept, belimumab, or ofatumumab) 7. Any previous treatment with lymphocyte trafficking blockers, with alemtuzumab, anti-CD4, cladribine, cyclophosphamide, mitoxantrone, azathioprine, mycophenolate mofetil, cyclosporine, methotrexate, total body irradiation, or bone marrow transplantation 8. Any concomitant disease that may require chronic treatment with systemic corticosteroids or immunosuppressants during the course of the study If you think you fulfill the inclusion criteria for this trial please speak to your neurologist about the possibility of being referred for screening for this study. Thanks for posting details of the trial Karen. I saw this on the Barts & London site and thought it looked interesting, although I don’t expect be giving up ldn anytime soon. Hi Karen, well im sure there will be plenty of folk interested. Are you going to join? As for me, Im too old, too far gone (on EDSSscale) not having any nookie, and besides all that, I`m a scardy cat! luv Pollx
